The Brooklyn Nets are reportedly considering signing Jason Collins on a 10-day contract, which would make him the NBA's first active openly gay player.
Having missed out on securing a deal for Los Angeles Lakers' Jordan Hill on trade deadline day, the Nets have identified Collins as an alternative.
Brooklyn general manager Billy King acknowledged that the team had held a private workout with the 35-year-old, but didn't confirm if they would offer the veteran a deal.
The Nets (25-27) are looking to bolster a depleted front court, and Collins could potentially be reunited with the franchise after spending six years in the league with them previously.
