The Brooklyn Nets secured their first win in their first-round playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks by beating the Eastern Conference's top seeds 91-83 at the Barclays Center.

The home side opened up a 15-point lead in the first quarter of game three as they looked to put defeats in the opening two meetings of the series behind them.

Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young led the early charge, but the Hawks started to close the gap before the break and edged in front for the first time since the opening minute midway through the third quarter.

Brooklyn were soon back on the offensive though, adding 18 unanswered points over the end of the the third quarter and the start of the fourth to move back ahead, led by Bojan Bogdanovic.

DeMarre Carroll tried to give Atlanta some late hope, finishing the game with a playoff career-high 22 points, but Young and Lopez both kept the points coming late on for the Nets to see out the win.

Atlanta remain 2-1 ahead in the best-of-seven series, ahead of the fourth game in Brooklyn on Monday.
