The Brooklyn Nets have confirmed that they have parted ways with Andrea Bargnani after seven months.
The 30-year-old Italian - number one pick in the 2006 Draft - joined from rivals the New York Knicks in July but has averaged just 6.6 points per game during a disappointing season for the Nets, who are currently 15-40.
Bargnani's departure is the first act of new Nets general manager Sean Marks, who now has one open roster spot.
Bargnani has until March 1 to sign for a new club in order to be eligible for the playoffs.
