Sports Mole picks apart Tuesday night's NBA games as the Golden State Warriors set a new record for the best-ever start to a season.

The Golden State Warriors set a new record for the best-ever start to an NBA season by thrashing the Los Angeles Lakers 111-77 in one of six Tuesday night contests.

Golden State, who are the defending champions, eclipsed the previous record of 15-0 held by the 1948-49 Washington Capitols and 1993-94 Houston Rockets.

Reigning MVP Stephen Curry top-scored with 24 points and also dished out nine assists, while no Laker put up more than 10 points and Kobe Bryant struggled with four points on 1-14 shooting.

Two teams on three-game losing streaks met at Pepsi Center and it was the Los Angeles Clippers who returned to winning ways with a 111-94 success over the Denver Nuggets.

Danilo Gallinari impressed for the Nuggets with 20 points and a career-high 18 rebounds, but a balanced team performance from the Clippers, with Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan both scoring 18, helped the visitors to victory.

Seven Memphis Grizzlies put up double-figure scoring totals in their 110-96 triumph over the Dallas Mavericks.

Mike Conley led the way with 21 as the home side won for the fifth time in six games, improving to 8-7 as Dallas lost back-to-back games and dropped to 9-6.

The Washington Wizards' three-game winning streak came to an end as they were blown away by a supreme Indiana Pacers shooting performance at Verizon Center.

Indiana, who have now won three in a row themselves, shot 73% (19-26) from three-point range as Paul George scored a season-high 40 points and CJ Miles added 32.

After four defeats in five, the Atlanta Hawks used a 40-point fourth quarter to pull away and see off the Boston Celtics 121-97 at Philips Arena.

Paul Millsap put up 25 points and nine rebounds for the home side, while Avery Bradley, also with 25 points, led the way for Boston.

Derrick Rose made his return from a two-game absence against the Portland Trail Blazers and helped the Chicago Bulls to a 93-88 win.

Point-guard Rose scored 17 points, while Jimmy Butler had 22 that included a half-court buzzer-beater that put the Bulls nine points ahead at half time.

Results in full: Indiana Pacers 123-106 Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics 97-121 Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks 96-110 Memphis Grizzlies, Los Angeles Clippers 111-94 Denver Nuggets, Chicago Bulls 93-88 Portland Trail Blazers, Los Angeles Lakers 77-111 Golden State Warriors
