Los Angeles Lakers head coach Mike D'Antoni has admitted that Steve Nash could be left out of some of the team's games in the early stages of the season.

Nash struggled with a number of different injuries during the last campaign and his impact during pre-season has been limited due to his fitness issues.

D'Antoni has confirmed that Nash will play against the Los Angeles Clippers in the season opener but claimed that he would consider leaving out the 39-year-old at some point within the next couple of weeks.

"There's a possibility," D'Antoni admitted when asked if Nash would sit out the second game against the Golden State Warriors. "We have to talk about it. I haven't talked to him. Obviously we'll see how he feels in the next couple of days, but it's very possible that he sits out.

"If one guy has the sniffles, he's playing. So, we'll see how the team goes and we'll see where we are -- where we are in the schedule, where we are in the standings -- and see how he does."

Nash has played in eight All-Star games during a 17-year NBA career.
