Sports Mole rounds up all the action from Wednesday evening's games in the NBA.

The Philadelphia 76ers avoided tying the NBA record for the worst ever start to a season by beating the Minnesota Timberwolves for their first win of the campaign.

After a bright start, the visitors struggled before the break, but Michael Carter-Williams ensured that the Sixers edged ahead in the fourth to end their 17-game losing streak.

The Brooklyn Nets stunned the San Antonio Spurs in overtime, ending the NBA champions' eight-game winning streak.

The Spurs needed a strong finish in the fourth quarter to keep them in the game, but Mirza Teletovic and Deron Williams made sure that the Nets restored their lead in overtime.

The Los Angeles Clippers crushed the Orlando Magic to wrap up their sixth win in a row, moving them to a 13-5 record.

Blake Griffin and Chris Paul combined for 40 points in the first three quarters before sitting out the final 12 minutes, while JJ Redick picked up 20.

Monta Ellis made a basket on the buzzer to give the Dallas Mavericks a narrow win in a closely-fought game against the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Bucks had the lead at half time, but Ellis got the Mavericks back into the game during the third, before making a jump shot inside the final second to secure the win.

The Charlotte Hornets slipped to their 15th defeat of the season as the Chicago Bulls finished their game strongly for victory at the Time Warner Cable Arena.

Kemba Walker kept the home side in contention in the third quarter, scoring 12 points to leave the Hornets just a point behind the Bulls' score, but Pau Gasol put the win beyond doubt for Chicago late on.

The Toronto Raptors cruised to a win over the Utah Jazz, who have now lost their last seven games.

Kyle Lowry scored a season-high 39 for the Eastern Conference leaders, helping them to a 16-point lead by half time, while six Raptors players reached double figures.

The Washington Wizards made it three wins in a row with a comfortable victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Kobe Bryant got the Lakers off to a bright start, scoring 15 points in the first quarter, but he missed all seven of his second-half field goal attempts to let the Wizards back into the game after the break, with Bradley Beal leading the scoring.

The Atlanta Hawks extended their winning run to four games with a win over the Miami Heat at the AmericanAirlines Arena.

Jeff Teague and Kyle Korver combined for 45 to make sure that they pulled away from the hosts in the first quarter, despite the Heat making 56% of their shots.

The Houston Rockets' strong recent form continued as they eased to their fifth straight win against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Despite missing several players through injury, the Rockets recovered from finding themselves 8-0 down early on to lead by six at the end of the first quarter, and never looked like letting the Grizzlies back into contention.

The Boston Celtics needed overtime to deny the Detroit Pistons just their second away win over the season.

The home side had an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter, but Greg Monroe added 15 points inside the final four minutes to force overtime, but Jeff Green made sure that Boston took control in the extra spell.

Result in full: Chicago Bulls 102-95 Charlotte Hornets, Los Angeles Lakers 95-111 Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons 102-109 Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs 93-95 Brooklyn Nets, Atlanta Hawks 112-102 Miami Heat, Memphis Grizzlies 96-105 Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks 107-105 Milwaukee Bucks, Philadelphia 85-77 Minnesota Timberwolves, Toronto Raptors 123-104 Utah Jazz, Orlando Magic 86-114 Los Angeles Clippers
