The San Antonio Spurs lost out in triple overtime for the second game in a row as they were edged out by the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Blazers needed a bright fourth quarter to force overtime against the NBA champions, with LaMarcus Aldridge adding a run of late points, but it was Damian Lillard who kept the points coming in the extra periods, adding 16 of his 43 in overtime.

The Cleveland Cavaliers recovered from a strong Brooklyn Nets start to secure their 15th win of the season.

Kobe Bryant missed a last-gasp shot as the Los Angeles Lakers slipped to a single-point defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The visitors were without league MVP Kevin Durant, but Russell Westbrook added 31, including a jump shot in the last minute to give the Thunder the lead, while Bryant missed a jumper at the buzzer that would have given the Lakers the win.

The Toronto Raptors extended their winning run to five games as they edged out the Detroit Pistons, who have not won at home in their last 12 games.

The Eastern Conference leaders shared the shooting, with Jonas Valanciunas, Kyle Lowry and Lou Williams all scoring over 15.

A strong finish from the Washington Wizards gave the team their sixth win in a row as they edged out the Miami Heat.

Last season's beaten NBA finalists were five points up midway through the final quarter, but Nene scored 20 off the bench to make sure that the Wizards rallied late on.

The Denver Nuggets held on to beat the Los Angeles Clippers despite throwing away a 16-point half-time lead.

The home side were in control at the bteak, but Blake Griffin got the Clippers back into contention in the second half before Nate Robinson came off the bench to ensure that Denver ended their three-game run without a win.

The Chicago Bulls ended the Memphis Grizzlies' six-game run without a defeat as they clinched their 17th win of the campaign.

Jimmy Butler led the way with 31 as Chicago pulled away before half time, while rookie Nikola Mirotic scored six threes on his way to a career-best 27.

The Utah Jazz secured their first back-to-back wins of the season with a comfortable victory over the Orlando Magic.

Derrick Favors and Gordon Hayward combined for 43 to help the visitors open up a big lead early on on their way to securing their second win in as many days.

The Minnesota Timberwolves made it 10 defeats in their last 11 outings as the Boston Celtics clinched a win in their first game without Rajon Rondo.

The game was close in the fourth quarter, but a run of eight unanswered points from the hosts ensured that they wrapped up their third straight win.

The Philadelphia 76ers are still without a win at home this season after slipping to a defeat to the Charlotte Hornets.

Kemba Walker helped the visitors pull away early on before Al Jefferson led the scoring in the second half for Charlotte.
