Erik Spoelestra has reportedly moved a step closer to agreeing a new contract with the Miami Heat.
The 42-year-old was named as the Heat's head coach in 2008 and has guided the team to the NBA title in the past two seasons.
Spoelstra's current deal expires next summer and his new contract is expected to come with a significant rise on his basic salary, according to ESPN.
Although the agreement has not yet been announced by the franchise, the Heat are rumoured to be eager to confirm the news before the Heat's pre-season training camp begins on Tuesday.
Spoelstra joined Miami as an assistant to former head coach Pat Riley in 1997.
