Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra has admitted that he is not sure what role Michael Beasley will play for the team this season.
Despite being unable to reveal what is expected of Beasley on his return to Miami, Spoelstra has claimed that he was desperate to bring the 24-year-old back to the franchise after his two-year spell ended in 2010.
"When he came available, we all wanted to get him back in our organisation," Spoelstra, who has agreed a contract extension with Miami, told reporters at the team's media day.
"We'll see how he fits in, and I don't have that answer right now. I don't have specific expectations for him on the court. I'm curious to see how it's going to work out.
"It's a totally different role than what he had to do last time. And we'll go into it with an open canvas."
The Heat begin their season against the Chicago Bulls on October 29.
