Sam Mitchell appears to be heading a list of candidates being considered for the vacant head coaching role at the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to a report in the press.
According to a report by Yahoo! Sport, Mitchell recently held positive discussions with Wolves president Flip Saunders in a recent meeting, with the side also keen to sort the future of star player Kevin Love in the coming months.
The Timberwolves have apparently sounded out a few options for the coaching position, but have decided not to progress discussions with the likes of Billy Donovan, Tom Izzo and Fred Hoiberg.
Mitchell has a close bond with the Wolves, having played for the team over two stints in 1989-1992 and 1995-2002, the second period being under the watch of current president Saunders.
