New Orleans Pelicans guard Eric Gordon has been ruled out indefinitely after sustaining a left shoulder injury on Saturday night.
According to team officials, an MRI scan revealed that Gordon had suffered a torn labrum when he separated his shoulder during a collision with Utah Jazz guard Trey Burke.
The 25-year-old missed 115 games during his first three seasons with the Pelicans due to injury but he had started all 12 of the team's games so far this season.
Gordon averaged 9.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes per game although his scoring average and field goal percentage are both well below his career averages of 17.2 points per game and 44.1%.
The Pelicans star is currently in the third year of his four-year contract and it is unknown when he will be able to return to action.
