Anthony Davis sustained a shoulder sprain during the New Orleans Pelicans' defeat to the Dallas Mavericks.
The team's leading scorer was forced out of the game shortly before half time, and spent the second half on the bench with his left arm in a sling.
Coach Monty Williams told reporters: "When you play as hard as AD and these guys who go after it every single night, they're going to have bumps and bruises. It could be nothing. It could be a day-to-day thing. We've got to let the doctors do their deal."
The second-year forward has averaged 20.2 points per game this season.
