The New Orleans Pelicans have reportedly identified Darren Erman as their top target to work under new head coach Alvin Gentry as the team's defensive guru.
Erman spent the past season working with Brad Stevens at the Boston Celtics following his dismissal by the Golden State Warriors a year ago.
According to ESPN, Erman was in New Orleans yesterday to discuss a possible switch to the Pelicans.
Current Warriors assistant Gentry was appointed as head coach by New Orleans on Saturday, and will remain with Golden State until the end of the NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers, which tip off at 2am UK time on Friday.
