Brandon Knight has reportedly moved a step closer to agreeing a new five-year contract with the Phoenix Suns.
Securing Knight's services for the next few seasons is the priority for the Suns this summer after acquiring him in a trade with the Milwaukee Bucks in February and allowing Goran Dragic to join the Miami Heat.
The 23-year-old, who will become a restricted free agent later this week, is ready to sign a five-year deal worth $70m (£44m), which is just below the maximum contract for a player coming off a rookie deal, according to the Racine Journal-Times.
Knight played just 11 games for the Suns before injury forced him to cut his campaign short, averaging 13.4 points and 4.5 assists in those appearances.
Reports have suggested that the Suns will look to trade Eric Bledsoe when the Knight extension is confirmed, and the New York Knicks are rumoured to be interested.
