Utah Jazz point guard Dante Exum has sustained a torn ACL, putting his 2015-16 season in jeopardy.
The 20-year-old suffered the injury while on international duty with Australia as he injured his left knee while attempting to shoot at the rim.
An MRI scan confirmed that the guard had damaged his ACL, and the Jazz are now discussing the options with the player regarding his recovery.
"First and foremost, our overriding concern is with Dante and his long-term health," Jazz general manager Dennis Lindsey said in a statement.
"We are continuing to work closely with our medical staff, Dante and his representation in order to reach an accurate diagnosis and recommended treatment so that we can provide him with the best possible care.
"We all know how hard he will work to make a full recovery and look forward to his return to play."
Exum was selected by Jazz with the fifth overall pick in the 2014 Draft.
