Washington Wizards forward Jared Dudley looks likely to be out for between three and four months after undergoing surgery on his lower back.
The 30-year-old has had an operation to help repair a herniated disk after spending only two weeks at the franchise following his trade from the Milwaukee Bucks.
The team has stated that the player is to start a rehabilitation programme immediately, but that they were already aware that he had been experiencing pain during some sections of the past campaign.
Dudley put together averages of 7.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 72 games during the 2014-15 NBA season.
