Nene has returned to practice with the Washington Wizards for the first time since spraining his knee six weeks ago.
The 31-year-old has been unable to make an appearance for the Wizards since being forced off the court in the victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on February 23.
Washington coach Randy Wittman indicated after the session that Nene was able to take part in "almost" everything, but a date for his competitive return has not been set.
Nene's comeback would be a timely boost for the Wizards, who take on the Charlotte Bobcats in a crucial Eastern Conference game on Wednesday night.
The Wizards are currently sixth in the Eastern Conference, one place above the Bobcats.
