The Washington Wizards have reportedly made moves to make sure that Marcin Gortat remains with the team beyond the end of the current season.
Gortat will become an unrestricted free agent in the summer if he fails to agree a new deal with the Wizards over the next few months.
General manager Ernie Grunfeld and head coach Randy Wittman are both believed to be keen to retain his services, according to ESPN.
The 29-year-old was traded to Washington before the start of the season in a deal that saw Emeka Okafor join the Phoenix Suns.
