Team England boxer Scott Fitzgerald believes that he has 'removed the rust' after getting his Commonwealth Games challenge underway on Friday.
Welterweight Fitzgerald advanced into the second stage of the competition following a comfortable victory over Ron Bastien, who stumbled inside five seconds following a powerful hook.
"It was a great start. It was good to get in there after waiting a few days in the village. I managed to knock him down in the first five seconds which gave me the confidence to push on," he told reporters immediately following the bout.
"It is good to get the rust off on the first one, which I have done now so I can really push on."
Fitzgerald will face Azumah Mohammed in the next round on July 28.
