Team England gold medal winner Anthony Fowler has said that he is glad that he is now distancing himself from comparisons with cousin Robbie Fowler.
Robbie forged an extremely successful football career, playing for the likes of Liverpool, Leeds United and Manchester City before hanging up his boots in 2012.
However, boxer Anthony Fowler, who won gold at the Commonwealth Games on Saturday evening, has insisted that he was never given any special treatment because of his famous family member.
"I am glad I am getting a bit of recognition myself now, not just because my cousin was a footballer," he told reporters.
"People think that I have had a helping hand, but I never had anything off Robbie. I did it myself."
Anthony beat Vijender Vijender in the final of the middleweight category in Glasgow.
