Team England boxer Joe Joyce has revealed that he was pleased to have opened his Commonwealth Games medal challenge with a solid win on Friday.
However, Joyce, who advanced into the quarter-finals with victory over Keddy Agnes in Glasgow, has vowed to raise his level in the latter stages.
"It was a good way to start. Obviously I've got a lot more to build on and I hope to improve every bout. It is good to get the first one out of the way and get the tournament started," Joyce told reporters immediately after the fight.
Joyce is among the favourites to gain a spot on the podium in the +91kg category.
