Osmar Bravo Amador has kept Nicaragua's Olympic boxing dream alive with a ferocious display against Montenegro's Bosko Draskovic.
Draskovic started the better of the two, slowing Bravo down with some great work to the body.
The Montenegrin penetrated Bravo's guard with a few crisp rights to take a 5-2 lead after the first round.
Draskovic was using his jab well and often doubled up with the right.
However, he was shaken to his boots by a heavy right hand from the Nicaraguan, before a left-right combination sent Draskovic into survival mode.
Bravo had restored parity at 7-7 by the time third bell sounded and surged forward, throwing everything at Draskovic, who was unable to repel him.
The referee gave Draskovic a standing eight count as his dream had all but died.
The Nicaraguan ran out a 16-11 winner.
