Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has reportedly attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League as the January transfer window rolls on.

The five-time Champions League winner could be one of a few standout stars from the Red Devils squad to depart this month, with compatriot Antony linked with a temporary move to Greek giants Olympiacos recently.

Casemiro has fallen down the Man United pecking order since the arrival of Ruben Amorim in the middle of November, taking the reins from FA Cup-winning boss Erik ten Hag after a troubling start to the 2024-25 campaign.

The former Real Madrid ace has appeared in just four of United's nine Premier League contests with Amorim at the helm, the most recent being the 2-0 loss at home to Newcastle United on December 30.

Casemiro, a 75-time Brazil international, commenced the New Year on the bench for the struggling English juggernauts, with Man United picking up a respectable point at league leaders Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

Man United's Casemiro price tag revealed?

According to journalist Ben Jacobs via Manchester Evening News, Manchester United star Casemiro has possibly entered his final few weeks as a Theatre of Dreams occupant.

The report claims that clubs in the Saudi Pro League remain keen on the signing of the veteran after he rejected a Middle East move over the course of the latest summer transfer window.

It is understood that deal breakers in Saudi Arabia believe that the signature of Casemiro could be secured for around £23m this month ahead of the second half of the campaign.

The former Los Blancos hero is supposedly "more open" to a potential transfer to the Saudi Pro League than he was during the summer trading point when Ten Hag was still in charge of Man United.

Casemiro could be the latest star to join ex-teammates Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in the Middle East, with Al-Nassr said to be a contender for the Brazilian's talents.

Man United's midfield options

Man United are heading in a different direction tactically under Amorim, with the 20-time English champions lining up in a 3-4-3 formation.

While there is a major emphasis on the wing-backs in the system, the role of the two central midfielders are also vital, needing to provide energy and protection for the backline.

Turning 33 next month, it is clear that Casemiro is no longer at the peak of his powers, talents that allowed him to romp to five Champions League triumphs.

The youth of Kobbie Mainoo and steeliness of Manuel Ugarte is clearly preferred in the engine room by Amorim, meaning that the end is surely near for the ex-Real Madrid man at Old Trafford. body check tags ::
