Dutch boxer Peter Mullenberg has slammed the judges at the European Games after losing to Azerbaijan's Teymur Mammadov in the quarter-finals of the light heavyweight division.
Mammadov was confirmed the winner with a unanimous 3-0 points victory, but Mullenberg was unable to hide his frustration with the decision as he watched his campaign for a medal end in disappointment against the home favourite in Baku.
"I was disappointed with myself because I know I could have won that fight. It was in the wrong country. In Azerbaijan the Azerbaijanis always win the medals. So he was always going to be the favourite," he told reporters.
"He was running away from me. He was running and running. Maybe here they like fighters who run away."
Mammadov will meet Russia's Pavel Silyagin in the semi-finals.
