New Zealand boxer Leroy Hindley says that he was pleased to negotiate his way past Mohammad Al Amin in his first bout of the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

New Zealand boxer Leroy Hindley has revealed that he was pleased to get a first victory under his belt at the Commonwealth Games.

Light welterweight Findley overcame Mohammad Al Amin on Saturday evening to book his spot in the next round of the competition.

"He [Al Amin] was crowding my space though which made it a bit messy, but I shouldn't have over-committed as much as I did. I will learn from that," he told Sports Mole.

Findley also said that he was delighted to keep the winning run for New Zealand going following victories for teammates Chad Milnes and Eric Finau earlier in the day.

"Yeah definitely. I wanted to keep the winning going. There was a bit of pressure on me going last today but I got the win so I am really happy," he added.

Findley also admitted that he was frustrated with Al Amin's use of his head.

"Yeah, I have got a little cut on my lip, but nothing too major. It is something that the referees need to be aware of though. There are so many clashes now," Findley added.

Findley will face Rashield Williams of Bahamas on Sunday.
