Andy Lee says that he wants to showcase his boxing skills when he defends his WBO middleweight title against Billy Joe Saunders on Saturday night.

Andy Lee has suggested that he will not rely on his punching power when he defends his WBO middleweight title against Billy Joe Saunders on Saturday night.

Over the past 18 months, Lee has become known for his right hook, which took out both John Jackson and Matt Korobov last year, before the same hand floored Peter Quillin during their non-title bout in April.

However, the Irishman is keen to show that he possesses superior boxing skills than opponent Saunders, who represented Great Britain at the 2008 Olympic Games.

The 31-year-old told BBC Sport: "I'd like to dominate him, show him my class and that I'm not just a puncher.

"The fact it's the first world title fight involving two Irish Travellers gives it an extra sub-plot, but people will be surprised. People are saying Billy Joe is a better boxer and I'm a bigger puncher. I can punch but I don't have to rely on it.

"They'll be thinking that because it's two Travellers it will be like a brawl on the street. But we're both pure boxers so it will be a high-class boxing match."

Lee has won 34 of his 37 bouts as a professional, while Saunders is unbeaten in 22 outings.
