Tony Bellew has revealed that even Isaac Chilemba's trainer, Buddy McGirt, felt that he deserved to beat his opponent in their WBC world title eliminator on Saturday night.
Bellew fought to a draw against his Malawian counterpart at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, and 'Bomber' claimed that McGirt told him that he had done enough to earn the victory after the final bell.
"Buddy McGirt just told me, 'I think you got it'," Bellew told Sky Sports News.
"That's a very knowledgeable man, a man I respect in boxing. His opinion was, 'going into the last round Tone, I think you got it'. I don't know what to say."
Bellew was also perplexed by one judge's decision to score the fight 116-112 in favour of his opponent.
"What has he been watching? I just don't know what to say. Even [Chilemba's] own trainer feels I won that fight," he said.
The stalemate means that the pair will likely have to clash again to determine the number one contender for the WBC light-heavyweight world title.
