British super-flyweight Paul Butler agrees a deal to face IBF champion Zolani Tete in Liverpool on October 25.

British super-flyweight Paul Butler has revealed that he is driven to enter his name in the record books when he competes for the IBF super-flyweight title next month.

Butler, who vacated his recently-won IBF bantamweight strap to return to super-flyweight, has agreed a deal to meet champion Zolani Tete at the Echo Arena on October 25, but the contest still requires approval from the governing body.

If Butler prevails over the South African, he will become England's quickest two-time world champion and the first British boxer in 111 years to win a world title for a second time in a lighter division. The unbeaten fighter has admitted that it would be "unbelievable" to achieve both feats in six-and-a-half weeks' time.

The 25-year-old is quoted by World Boxing News as saying: "I can't wait to face Tete and take that world title off him.

"He gets my full respect for being world champion and coming to Liverpool to defend his title against me but when he gets in that ring, he will be in against a man who is driven and focused to win the world title.

"Winning one world title is every boxer's dream, but to win a second would be unbelievable and to do it in back-to-back fights would make it even more special."

Butler has recorded 16 successive victories, while Tete, who has been competing at world level since his 13th fight, has won 19 times in 22 bouts.
