British super-middleweight James DeGale has admitted that he hopes Carl Froch can knock out George Groves, but has cast doubt over whether the IBF and WBA champion can improve on his first performance.

Froch produced one of the worst displays of his career in their initial clash, hitting the canvas in round one before controversially stopping the challenger in the ninth, but as the pair get ready to meet again at Wembley on Saturday, DeGale is unsure whether he can overcome the Londoner for a second time.

The 28-year-old told IFL.TV: "I don't know if Froch can change or mix it up. After seeing the first fight, it's difficult to imagine him dominating the fight because it was so easy for Groves.

"In the buildup, he has looked focused, he doesn't look agitated like before and he looks on it. I do hope he knocks Groves out, but I'm not sure that it is going to happen."

DeGale will face the winner of the world title encounter if he can overcome unbeaten American Brandon Gonzales on the undercard.
