Carl Froch "elated" after George Groves win

Carl Froch describes his knockout of George Groves as the best moment of his career.

Carl Froch said that he felt "unbelievably elated" after winning his world title rematch against George Groves at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

The 36-year-old from Nottingham floored his opponent with a powerful right hand in round eight, leaving Groves unable to take a standing count and ensuring that the champion retained the WBA and IBF super-middleweight belts.

Speaking afterwards, Froch was unable to hide his delight with the manner of his victory.

He told Sky Box Office: "I'm feeling unbelievably elated. This is the best moment in my boxing career. I've been involved in some magnificent fights with top, top world champions. This is by far the biggest and best crowd I've boxed in front of.

"I'm proud. George Groves should be proud. It was neck and neck in there. There was nothing in it. Sometimes in boxing it only takes one punch and unfortunately for George he was on the end of a very heavy right hand."

If Froch decides to carry on in the ring, he could be in for a world title bout with fellow Briton and former Olympic champion James DeGale, who controversially won his IBF eliminator against Brandon Gonzalez earlier on the Wembley card.
