Former world champion Ricky Hatton believes that Amir Khan should not rush to organise a fight with Floyd Mayweather.
Khan recently lost his WBA and IBF light welterweight belts in a controversial bout with Lamont Peterson.
Hatton suffered a devastating loss to Mayweather in 2007 and claims that Khan needs to improve before taking on the American.
"I think a Mayweather fight would be too soon for Amir," Hatton told the Daily Star.
"I think Amir needs two or three fights to get himself re-established and get his confidence back.
"He is just coming off a defeat and does he really want to fight the number one fighter right now or later this year?"
Khan is currently waiting for a rematch with Peterson.
