David Haye suggests that his boxing career may not be over as he continues to recover from shoulder surgery.

David Haye has suggested that his professional boxing career may not be over after providing an update on the condition of his shoulder.

The former WBA heavyweight champion required surgery on his shoulder in November due to an injury he suffered in preparation for a proposed bout with Tyson Fury, and doctors had advised him to consider retiring.

However, Haye is optimistic that he will soon be in action again with trainer Adam Booth.

"I've had now around 5 months of rehabilitation, and the effects of such a program means, I have full range of movement, and there are not many everyday things I can't do perfectly," the 33-year-old revealed in a statement on his website.

"Obviously punching is not a "everyday thing" but I'm not far away from doing some very light shadow boxing to test it ever so gently.

"No decisions have been made with regards my future as a professional boxer. But I'm in the gym every day, religiously doing the programme set out by my Physio. I've yet to work on the pads with Adam Booth or throw any 'Hayemakers', but I don't feel a million miles away!"

Haye has not fought competitively since beating Dereck Chisora in July 2012.
