Promoter Eddie Hearn has insisted that Gavin Rees won "many admirers" with his display against WBC world lightweight champion Adrien Broner.
Rees impressed in the opening rounds of his contest with the unbeaten American before he suffered two knockdowns that resulted in the Welsh fighter being pulled out of the fight by his corner late in the fifth round.
However, despite the defeat, Hearn believes that the 32-year-old still has a bright future in the sport and that he may earn another world title shot opportunity later in 2013.
He told Sky Sports News: "Gavin's performance won him many admirers in America.
"He is a true warrior and we have been approached about further fights for Gavin in the US in early summer.
"All in all the future is very bright for Gavin and the plan is to pick up another World title shot before the end of 2013."
Saturday's defeat was just the second for Rees in 40 professional fights.
