Bernard Hopkins contemplates his future

Bernard Hopkins has not decided whether he will fight again.

Legendary fighter Bernard Hopkins is still contemplating whether or not he will return to boxing.

Hopkins, who is the oldest man to win a major belt, has not fought since his majority decision loss to Chad Dawson in April.

He has not ruled out that fight being his last, and if he does fight again it will not be for money.

"I always think there's another fight in me because I'm a fighter," he told the Philadelphia Daily News. "But it would have to be for a very good reason. I won't fight again just for the money.

"People ask me all the time if I'm done. It might not be my decision to make. There are a lot of guys out there who are afraid of Bernard Hopkins, and they should be.

"Jean Pascal hasn't fought in a year-and-a-half, I ruined him. Kelly Pavlik hasn't been the same since he fought me. Other guys' managers and promoters know that."

The 47-year-old has been linked with a fight against British world champion Nathan Cleverly, after the Welshman moved his next defence to Los Angeles in November.

However, Hopkins knows he won't box forever.

He added: "Look, I'm more than halfway through my life. I'm fast approaching 48 and I'm loving it. Who knows? Maybe this time next year, I'll just go fishing."

Hopkins current record is 52 wins from 62 fights. He was the first man to unify all four middleweight belts, as well as the Ring magazine belt. He has also been world champion at light-heavyweight.
