Floyd Mayweather Jr says that Badou Jack, whom he represents, and James DeGale will meet in a super-middleweight unification clash at some point in the future.

Floyd Mayweather Jr has revealed that it is the "ultimate goal" to match Badou Jack and James DeGale in a super-middleweight unification clash at some point in the future.

The retired five-weight world champion represents WBC champion Jack, a known target for IBF title holder DeGale, who is eyeing a bout between the two during 2016.

However, Mayweather has suggested that he thinks this year is too early for the showdown to take place, saying that he hopes to build the clash into a "super bout" providing that both men retain possession of their world titles.

The 38-year-old told BBC Sport: "James DeGale is a very, very good fighter and he is solid. I like him. A lot of personality. The ultimate goal is for him and Badou to fight in a unification bout. Do I think that can happen? Absolutely.

"He talked to me the other day when I was in Los Angeles at the fights. He said he would like to fight Badou Jack. But everything takes time. Eventually it will happen.

"If he continues to win and Badou continues to win, which I truly believe both will, the ultimate goal is to match those two in a super bout, down the line."

Jack has not fought since edging out George Groves in Las Vegas in September, while DeGale is expected to face mandatory challenger Jose Uzcategui in his next outing.
