Australia's Cameron Hammond has ousted Moustapha Abdoulaye Hima of Niger in the welterweight competition.
Neither fighter started particularly well and there were plenty of wasted shots in the opening round, which was tied at two points apiece.
Hammond started getting into range in the second, as Hima kept his hands dangerously low.
The Australian took advantage of that and landed a crisp right hand flush on hima's chin, which resulted in the referee giving the Niger fighter a standing eight-count.
Hammond was impressive in countering Hima's attacks before unleashing a barrage of shots to score a comfortable 13-6 win.
