Scotland's Josh Taylor has been crowned the new WBC Silver super-lightweight champion after overcoming Ohara Davies during a pulsating contest at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow on Saturday night.
Taylor and Davies had been locked in a battle on social media ahead of the fight, while both fighters took unbeaten records into the contest.
It was Taylor that defended his Commonwealth light welterweight title, however, as Davies suffered his first professional loss.
It did not take long for the southpaw Scot to take control of the contest, and while Davies's power and unorthodox style threatened to cause Taylor problems, the home fighter claimed a seventh-round technical knockout victory.
Davies did well to compose himself after a difficult start - and the London-born fighter had his best round in the fifth - but Taylor knocked Davies to the ground for the second time in the seventh round, and the referee was forced to step in as Eddie Hearn's fighter turned his back following a period of punishment.
