Scotland boxer Josh Taylor has revealed that he was pleased with his performance in Tuesday's win over Zach Davies in the quarter-finals of the Commonwealth Games.
Taylor, who won silver in Delhi four years ago, set up a last-four meeting with England's Sam Maxwell after overcoming Davies in comfortable fashion.
"I knew it was going to be a hard fight. Zach used to be on the GB development squad with me, we sparred a few rounds a couple of years back and he was still a similar style, but he was more aggressive and more sharp than what I was expecting," he told Sports Mole.
"However, I think I had the fight under control pretty easily."
Taylor also looked ahead to his last-four meeting with "good friend" Maxwell.
"It will be a great fight. It will be a very hard and technical fight, we both know each other quite well, we are good friends as well, but at the end of the day this is the business end of the tournament so I will be looking to beat him and I am 100% confident that I can," he added.
Taylor's bout with Maxwell will take place on Friday.
