Great Britain lightweight Josh Taylor has dumped Brazil's Robson Conceicao out of the Olympic lightweight boxing tournament courtesy of a four-point victory.
Both men looked sharp in the opening exchanges, but it was Conceicao who produced the marginally better work, penetrating Taylor's defence with a straight right hand.
Taylor took a one-point advantage into the second round, but the Brazilian stepped up a gear early in the second as he tried to blast Taylor out.
However, the Brit defended well and then answered with a couple of decent shots of his own, including a nice right hook as the second round came to a close.
Conceicao had been a constant threat throughout the bout, but trailed by three points going into the decider.
The danger signs were present for Taylor as Conceicao found the target with a nice uppercut that rocked the Brit's head back.
Taylor stayed alert until the end and absorbed all that Conceicao had to see out the victory, increasing his lead to 13-9.
