Great Britain's Antony Fowler has suffered defeat in his opening-round clash with Zhanibek Alimkhanuly at the Olympic Games.
The middleweight has long been considered one of Great Britain's best amateurs but he will head to the professional ranks with a disappointing loss to the 2013 world champion.
The Liverpudlian was outclassed throughout and hit the canvas during the second round as the Kazakh puncher threatened a stoppage.
Fowler made it to the end of the round and landed a couple of heavy shots of his own in the final session but he fell to a comprehensive defeat, losing by scorelines of 30-27, 30-26 and 30-26 respectively.
