Ukrainian light welterweight Denis Berinchyk has prevailed from a brutal fight with Sweden's Anthony Yigit.
Yigit started brightly and took the fight to Berinchyk, who was struggling to cope with the Swede's power after being caught with a heavy body shot.
The Ukrainian was feeling the effects of the body blow, but managed to score with a few punches to keep the scores level.
Berinchyk looked a bit ragged in what was his first fight of the Games and his defence was found wanting as they exchanged furiously.
The pair went to war, standing toe to toe and swinging wildly. Berinchyk was starting to gain a foothold in the bout as Yigit began to look exhausted.
As the second round came to a close the boxing match was more of a brawl. The Ukrainian got his nose in front and led by four points as they approached the final round.
Both men continued to bombard each other, raining in rights and lefts. Berinchyk was being forced to dig deep as Yigit refused to give up.
The Swede finished the stronger of the two, winning the last round 805, but it was Berinchyk who took a narrow 24-23 decision.
