New Zealand boxer Chad Milnes has revealed his delight after booking his spot in the quarter-finals of the Commonwealth Games.
Milnes beat Lazarus Shaningwa on Sunday afternoon to set up a clash with Wales's Joe Cordina, who is regarded as the favourite in the Lightweight division.
"It felt a lot better than my first fight. I felt really good today and used to the atmosphere," Milnes told Sports Mole immediately after the bout.
"I have fought him (Joe) before, so I know a lot about him. He is a great boxer – very skilled and I will have to use all my experience to try and neutralise Joe's boxing skills.
"It has always been a goal of mine to just get to the Games and to be one fight away from a medal is amazing."
Milnes also claimed that the atmosphere in the New Zealand camp is strong following a solid start from their boxers, adding: "There is confidence in the camp. We feel good."
Milnes will fight Cordina on Tuesday.
