Arsenal lineup vs. Man United: Predicted XI for FA Cup clash as Gabriel Jesus returns

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Arsenal could line up for Sunday's FA Cup third-round clash with Manchester United.

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta should not be averse to making a few changes for Sunday's FA Cup third-round clash at home to defending champions Manchester United.

The Gunners are out to right the wrongs of their 2-0 EFL Cup semi-final first-leg loss to Newcastle United in midweek, and they will welcome Tottenham Hotspur to the Emirates for a Premier League North London derby just three days after Sunday's game.

Alterations should therefore be inevitable, but Arteta remains without four right-sided options in Bukayo Saka (hamstring), Ethan Nwaneri (muscle), Ben White (knee) and Takehiro Tomiyasu (knee) for the visit of Ruben Amorim's side.

Leandro Trossard started in Saka's place against Newcastle, but he suffered a heavy knock to the ankle in the first half and was then withdrawn just before the hour mark, having surprisingly come back out for the second 45.

While Arteta should stick with Kai Havertz up top thanks to his physical prowess, the Spaniard could introduce Gabriel Jesus into the right-wing position, as Gabriel Martinelli continues to bomb down the left-hand side.

Neither Declan Rice nor Martin Odegaard should be at risk of the chop, but Thomas Partey has played a lot of football in recent months and might be spared for Sunday's game, allowing Mikel Merino to occupy the left eight role.

Further back, Jurrien Timber is the only right-back option for the hosts at present, but Riccardo Calafiori can be expected to displace the up-and-coming Myles Lewis-Skelly in the left-back role.

Sunday's tie might also be an ideal opportunity for Neto to make his debut in goal, but the calibre of the opposition means that Arteta will likely stick with David Raya.

Arsenal possible starting lineup:
Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Calafiori; Odegaard, Rice, Merino; Jesus, Havertz, Martinelli
