Wales boxer Ashley Williams says that he was "very proud" to have won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games.

Wales boxer Ashley Williams has said that he is "very proud" to have won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games this summer.

Williams was eliminated in the semi-final of the light-flyweight division by Devendro Laishram, but had already secured a bronze in his division.

"I am very proud of what I have done here in these Games. I have only been about for a couple of years. I will come back and I will be better and stronger," he told Sports Mole.

"Maybe next Games you will see me again and I will hopefully bring home a gold next time."

Williams also revealed his plans for the immediate future.

"I will have a bit of relax. I will go back to work, back to the army, back to doing my normal job, but I will be training back in the gym after I have had a good break. I need a good break and then we will see what happens from then," he added.

"Hopefully I have proved enough in these Games to step up to podium on GB and be a full-time athlete like the rest of the Team GB boys. All I want to do is win medals."

Williams's opponent Laishram will meet Paddy Barnes in the final on Saturday.
