Great Britain's Lani Belcher has insisted that she was "really happy" to claim silver in the K1 5000m kayak event at the European Games this afternoon.
Belcher finished behind Belarus's Maryna Litvinchuk, who stormed to gold in Mingachevir after finishing more than 15 seconds ahead of the Briton.
In a tussle for second place, Belcher narrowly beat Hungary's Renata Csay, while Ireland's Jennifer Egan missed out on a medal in fourth spot.
"I'm really pleased with silver because the start was a bit of a tussle," Belcher told reporters. "The first lap had boats crashing into each other and I got a bit caught up in it all.
"That's when the three girls got away so we just worked really hard to get them and I'm really happy with silver. I just really, really wanted a medal and I was determined to do that."
Germany's Melanie Gebhardt had been pushing for a medal in the final, but lost her balance to rule herself out of the running.
