"A dizzy spell" forces Australian batsman Chris Rogers to leave the action on day four of the second Ashes Test.

Australia batsman Chris Rogers was forced to retire hurt on day four of the second Ashes Test at Lord's earlier today.

Following the completion of the second over of the day, the 37-year-old signalled to the dressing room that he was in need of treatment, before he slumped to the ground.

Cricket Australia have now confirmed that Rogers had experienced "a dizzy spell" and he will continue to be assessed by the medical team.

Although there has been no suggestion yet that the two incidents are connected, Rogers ducked into a bouncer from James Anderson during the first innings, which struck him on the helmet.

He also suffered blows to the head in a net session in the Caribbean in May, as well as during a Sheffield Shield game last year.
