Australia captain Michael Clarke insists that they will not let their standards drop despite having already secured The Ashes with wins in the first three Tests.

Australia captain Michael Clarke has insisted that they will not take their foot off the gas in Melbourne despite having already wrapped up The Ashes.

The hosts go into the Boxing Day Test at the MCG with an unassailable 3-0 series lead having cruised to victories over England in the first three encounters.

However, Clarke has stressed that Australia will not let their standards drop, and wants to win the final two matches to complete a 5-0 whitewash for the fans that have supported his side in numbers.

"People have been asking me how we're going to approach the Boxing Day Test after already winning back the Ashes," Clarke told reporters.

"The answer is easy - full throttle. Momentum is a rare and precious commodity. When you have it you run with it as hard as you can because you're never sure how long it will last.

"We want to show our many thousands of fans in Melbourne and Sydney the same dominant, aggressive cricket we have been able to play at near full stadiums in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth."

Australia are expected to name an unchanged XI for the fourth Test, which begins midnight on Thursday.
