Shane Watson says that he has full faith in his own abilities as an all-rounder, and is ready to return to the Australia fold should he be selected against Sri Lanka.

Australia all-rounder Shane Watson admits that he has only got himself to blame for his World Cup axing.

The 33-year-old made way for James Faulkner in the Baggy Greens' record 275-run win over Afghanistan yesterday, and he now faces a tough task of winning back his place for the meeting against Sri Lanka in Sydney.

Having averaged just 22.3 from his past 11 one-day international innings, Watson knows that he may need to rely on injuries or poor form elsewhere if he is to regain a spot in the side.

"I believe in myself and my own abilities," he is quoted as saying by Yahoo!. "If an opportunity comes along, I'll be ready to go. I know I haven't scored enough runs, so I've only got myself to blame. That's the way it goes.

"There are things I've made adjustments on even before I got dropped to try to improve and give myself a better chance to score runs and perform. I'm always trying to get better and learn, so that's all I can do."

Australia have now won two of their four games at the World Cup, while also losing one and seeing another washed out due to rain.
