Sri Lanka restrict Australia to 137 from their 20 overs in the first T20 international, with David Warner (90*) the only batsman to get above 25 runs for the hosts.

David Warner hit an unbeaten 90 runs to help Australia post a total of 137 runs in the first Twenty20 international against Sri Lanka at Stadium Australia.

On just the second ball of the game there was confusion between the hosts' two openers, Warner and Aaron Finch, with the latter escaping a run out as bowler Angelo Mathews failed to collect at the stumps.

Finch didn't take advantage of this lifeline as he went for just one run in the next over when he thickly-edged Nuwan Kulasekara's delivery towards short cover and Kushal Perera dived high to his right and held onto the ball in mid-air.

Warner hit a pair of boundaries in the next, but soon after his new partner at the crease, Shaun Marsh (6), was also on his way back to the pavilion. He prodded a Thisara Perera delivery to the leg side and took off for a run but Tillakaratne Dilshan's direct hit beat him to the stumps.

Warner was motoring along at one end but yet again he watched a teammate give up his wicket when George Bailey (11) slapped a wide Perera delivery straight into the palms of Dilshan.

Adam Voges came to the middle and he steadily went along with Warner to build the longest partnership of the innings.

The Aussies couldn't find the boundary in the latter stages though, with Warner ending his innings on 90 from just 62 balls.
