Mitchell Johnson ends his Australia career as the team draw the second Test against New Zealand in Perth.

Mitchell Johnson has officially bowed out of Test cricket after Australia drew the second Test against New Zealand at the WACA in Perth.

The Australian bowler, who claimed 313 Test match wickets in his career, announced his retirement today before play got underway on day five.

The hosts began the day on 258-2 in their second innings, with Steven Smith and Adam Voges unbeaten on 131 and 101 runs respectively.

The Black Caps managed to remove the batting order before the evening session for 385 with Smith top-scoring with a knock of 138, while Voges contributed with 119 runs.

After going into bat, Tom Latham and Martin Guptill managed to hit a combined 28 runs before play was delayed due to rain.

After the break, the pair managed to score a further six runs before Johnson snatched his first dismissal of the second innings.

Latham (15) went for a power shot, but was caught out by Josh Hazlewood, and Johnson continued to dominate with the ball for the final time as he dislodged Guptill for 17.

Umpires called an end to the match in the 28th over with New Zealand on 104-2.

The series stands at 1-1.
